Over the past few weeks, Cornell University leadership has been meeting regularly to coordinate a response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). They have remained focused on the health and well-being of our campus communities, and in that spirit, our University has recently announced enhanced event policies. Effective on March 9, the University is postponing or canceling large (more than 100 people), non-essential events or work-related gatherings scheduled through April 15. With this being said, it is with the utmost disappointment that I have to inform you that LABash 2020 will not be taking place. More information about Cornell’s policy regarding the Coronavirus can be found here.
While we are extremely disappointed that the conference cannot occur this year, we know that we must prioritize the health and safety of all of those involved. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience that this change may cause.
However, I am pleased to announce that Cornell will still be hosting LABash--just one year later--for LABash 2021! While this is an unexpected change that we did not anticipate, we hope that you will join us in our excitement for bringing the same level of enthusiasm to the conference next year. We are tentatively scheduling the new conference to take place during the dates of April 8-10, 2021. While this is far in advance, we are hoping to make this transition as seamless as possible both for you and our team. If you are already registered for LABash, please check your email and complete the appropriate form.
If you would like, you are able to transfer your registration to LABash 2021 or request a refund for your ticket. We will be offering full refunds for those who request it by March 23 (two weeks). Refunds can be requested anytime after this date by contacting us, but it will incur a 5% processing fee.
If you are currently registered as a student and will no longer be a student during April 2021, we will honor your current ticket and allow you to attend the conference at the discounted student rate. If you do not fill out the form requesting a refund, we will assume that your registration will roll over to LABash 2021 until indicated otherwise.
Please cancel your travel and hotel accommodations as it is required you do that on your own.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate these circumstances and communicate with all those affected by this change. Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. We are extremely disappointed that we won’t be able to follow through with LABash 2020, but we promise to exceed your expectations for the conference next year. We hope to see you there.
Special thank you to Louisiana State University for being so accommodating and moving their hosting of LABash to 2022.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
